Canoeing & Kayaking River Trips

If you fancy learning the art of canoeing or kayaking properly or if you just fancy a nice journey with friends the Lower River Wye is an amazing place, take a journey through it’s gentle waters and try some easy rapids to keep you on your toes! The Wye around Monmouth is the most beautiful section, for which it is famous, the forest comes down to the river with cliffs poking through, the famous Symonds Yat rapids are just up the river from us adding some extra excitement and challenge and really making it a special day out. Raft- Building

Raft-Building is a great fun activity, requiring planning, team-work, clear communication and co-ordination,  our instructor will advise you(just a little bit) on your potential designs and teach you all the knots necessary to help you build your craft and potentially keep dry on the river descent/ crossing. Raft-building takes place in the field next door to our group tipi site in Monmouth, so it’s totally hassle free and easy to enjoy.

Rock Climbing or Abseiling

Take on a half-day rock climbing or abseiling activity on the cliffs of Symonds Yat Rock with stunning views of the Wye Valley on the edge of the Forest of Dean, the site is surrounded by spectacular rock formations and lovely ancient woodland.  Wye Tipi Camping climbing activities offer a great team-spirit and encourages people of all skill levels to challenge themselves in a safe adventure environment.

Mountain Biking

There is fantastic mountain biking in the Wye Valley & Forest of Dean with trails designed for all levels and abilities. A great activity for the more energetic. Half-day or Full Day Mountain biking rides available with Lunch and refreshment stops planned into the route, pub/cafe or a packed lunch?

Orienteering

Fancy some healthy competition among your group?  The Wye Valley is the ideal place, search the forests in small teams to find the code and complete the course, with beautiful woodland and teams of friends it’s a very social way to spend a few hours.

Collette Basketry

A great easy going activity is Basket Weaving, it’s ideal for those who want to take it easy on site, make baskets on the tipi meadow or in your tipi. Collette is a local artist who forages all the natural fibres she uses in her classes locally. You can do a morning or an afternoon, an activity session typically takes 2 to 2 & 1/2 hours, min 4 people, max is 8.
